A GP referral is helpful for continuity of care but is not always required for a private appointment. If you hold private medical insurance, most providers will request a referral before authorising treatment. Dr Islam’s team can guide you through the right route when you call.
Private appointments with Dr Islam are typically available within a few days. Clinics run at Circle Reading Hospital on Monday and Saturday mornings, and at Spire Dunedin Hospital on Tuesday afternoons and evenings.
Depending on your symptoms, Dr Islam may recommend an ECG, echocardiogram, 24-hour heart monitor, CT coronary angiogram, or blood tests. Many of these can be arranged on the same day or at the same hospital site.
Dr Islam accepts most major private medical insurers including Bupa, AXA Health, Aviva, and Vitality. Self-pay options are also available. Please contact the clinic to confirm your specific policy before booking.
