Arrhythmia Management

What this assessment covers

Arrhythmias are disorders of the heart’s electrical system that cause the heart to beat too fast, too slowly, or irregularly. Symptoms range from noticeable palpitations and skipped beats to dizziness, breathlessness, and blackouts. Dr Islam provides specialist evaluation to identify the rhythm disorder and establish the safest, most effective management plan.

The consultation examines symptom frequency, triggers, and impact on daily life alongside a review of relevant medical history. Where appropriate, ambulatory heart monitoring, echocardiography, or electrophysiology referral will be coordinated to reach a precise diagnosis.

Treatment FAQ

Common questions

What happens during this consultation?

Dr Islam will take a detailed history of your palpitations or rhythm symptoms, carry out an examination, and perform a resting ECG. If a monitor is needed to capture intermittent symptoms, this will be arranged at the same site.

Many rhythm conditions require ambulatory monitoring such as a 24-hour or 7-day Holter, or an event recorder. Echocardiography may also be recommended to assess heart structure. Dr Islam will explain which tests apply to your specific presentation.

Arrhythmia management is often ongoing. Dr Islam provides structured follow-up to review monitoring results, assess treatment response, and adjust medication or make onward referrals for ablation or device therapy if indicated.
